This plane flies like a low wing trainer. (that’s a good thing, after all, it’s a bomber). Only needed a few clicks of trim. I’ve only had two flights, so I’m still trying to figure out the right approach speed. Need to slow it down. This plane is NOT an ARF. It is a RTA (Ready to Assemble). And there is a lot of assembly. The instruction manual is flawed in several places (I had to learn the hard way), so I’ve listed the following corrections to make things easier for you. Page 15. Before ******** the motor mount in place, slide the main spar all the way in. Now screw in the motor mount, if you can. My holes didn’t line up so I drilled new holes and used wood screws. Page 19. Don’t put the cowl on yet. Page 23. Don’t fasten the gear housing to the wing yet. Leave it laying loose. Install the gear doors and adjust the housing to align with the doors. Check frequently for proper fit and movement while the glue is drying. Once the glue is dry you can screw the housing to the wing. Now you can put the cowl on if you desire. Page 38. Don’t cut the fabric on the fairing to expose the holes for accessing the clamps. The clamps can be tightened from inside the fuselage using a 2.5mm hex wrench with an extra long shaft. Page 40. I used screws instead of adhesive. Page 41. Don’t put that bulby thing on. I have 3 books with photos of actual HE 111’s and none of them have it. Page 48. Ignore everything under BALANCING. It comes straight out of the instruction manual for the small HE111. Use the enclosed balancing jig. I made mine slightly nose heavy and it flew fine. The following is all strictly personal opinion. The gear door function on the retract controller did not work right out of the box. I’m sure Motion would have replaced it had I asked, but it made me uncomfortable. I bought a heavy duty JP Hobby controller and used my transmitter to sequence the doors so I could customize their operation. Secondly, I was not impressed with the color, rivet and panel line detail, or the weathering. So much so that I painted the entire plane. Quite a chore with all those windows to mask off. If that weren’t enough, the covering started wrinkling badly after a few minutes in 75 degree sunlight. Worst of all is the 2 piece wing. It should be a 3 piece wing, with the center section containing the motors and retracts. Since you need a van or trailer to haul this plane, the center section could be left on and you could roll the fuselage around on the landing gear. Outer wing panels would be light and easy to install. But instead, this 2 piece arrangement fights with you the entire time. Made even more difficult with 2 aluminum spars to contend with. It took three of us to accomplish this feat. BTW. This is not an HE111. It’s a CASA 2.111, the Spanish variant. Check the cowls.
